2011 Musso & Frank Grill, Ruben Rueda and I became close friends. He introduced me to my wife. I wrote the novel, "Upon them, A Childhood Cast," because he encouraged me. Lots of memories at that bar counter with Ruben, Maggie and the rest. Ruben did arrange for me to get a ride home through Mario's (the other bartender) son who lived near Scott street in Echo Park where I lived. Sometimes I'd drink with Ed Lauter there on Saturday afternoons when Manny was bar-tending. Manny used to go and get his LA Weekly Article interview for all the tourists and sell them the signature MUSSO AND FRANK margarita. The tourists would get star struck and get pictures with Ed. He was fun. Ed Lauter loved to talk about Hemingway. Ed read him all the time. Lauter turned me on to the Chateau Marmount. We were supposed to go there together one time. We talked on the phone, and it got busy during the holidays. I didn't need to go with him, I used to go alone all the time and write in the afternoons. Ken Eulo was my mentor, editor and manager and I wrote this to him. Joe Pasquale, the American Author.
